Google Android…come get some $$$

Google has announce this week that they are going to be giving away $10 million dollars to programmers that develop applications specific to the google android platform. What a great way to branch off from this cellphone tycoon industry! I’m so sick of dealing with limitaitons and cellphone companies snowballing consumers. Give me a phone with an independent OS that everyone can share and develop new applications and I’d sign up. It’ll be interesting to see where this project goes, I’m definately glad to see them open this up to the open source community.

Take a look at a couple of the apps that google has designed to demonstrate the Android platform. This looks interesting!

    I can see the similarities. I hope Google brings this to the consumers at a reasonable price or I’m sure it will be packaged with new phones.

    I think the REAL big picture here though is that it’s customizable as in the source code is available for programmers to create/modify applications for this platform. The more applications built for this the merrier, your not stuck with 3rd party proprietary software or only apple software for instance.
