SSH and DD-WRT
By hotsauce on March 29th, 2009I rarely post many technical things on this site but some guys at work wanted me to write up a tutorial on how to do this so I thought I’d share it here. Basically it explains how to connect to a router running DD-WRT using SSH as well as how to tunnel remote desktop and Mozilla Firefox traffic through SSH. I hope it’s self explanatory, please keep in mind there are a hundred different ways to do this.
I can somewhat relate to this vid
By hotsauce on July 1st, 2008One of my coworkers had us watch this today after they shutdown all of the servers because of a fire in one of the main data centers. I got to say that this is one of the funniest videos I’ve seen in awhile and damn worth posting. I know more than a few of my friends that can relate to this video…gotta love IT. Check out The Website Is Down.
DID YOU REBOOT 3 TIMES?

Google Android…come get some $$$
By hotsauce on November 13th, 2007Google has announce this week that they are going to be giving away $10 million dollars to programmers that develop applications specific to the google android platform. What a great way to branch off from this cellphone tycoon industry! I’m so sick of dealing with limitaitons and cellphone companies snowballing consumers. Give me a phone with an independent OS that everyone can share and develop new applications and I’d sign up. It’ll be interesting to see where this project goes, I’m definately glad to see them open this up to the open source community.
Take a look at a couple of the apps that google has designed to demonstrate the Android platform. This looks interesting!
Ubuntu Beryl desktop continued…
By hotsauce on October 29th, 2007In response to my GO OPEN SOURCE blog item written, here is more really cool Ubuntu desktops running Beryl. Really geeky, but you gotta admit it’s pretty damn cool and proves the power of the open source community. This might prove to be the ultimate multitasking environment, either that or serious distraction. I could see this as being a damn cool alternative to a multiple monitor display setup. I’ve gotta try this when I upgrade my laptop down the road, here is the specs on this guy’s machine:
A quick demo of Beryl possibilities on my old computer :
- Athlon 1800+ - 512MB Ram - NVIDIA geforce 4200 TI !!!!
- Linux Kubuntu Edgy - AIGLX - NVDIA official driver - BERYL SVN
You’ll have to turn up the volume on your machine to get the 300 effect, very cool demo of beryl though.
Go open source!!!
By hotsauce on October 25th, 2007 TechnologyNeed I say more about the OS battle, though I do like Mac’s OS 10.5 Leopard. Check out Ubuntu or other Linux distro’s (Fedora, Debian, etc) and give it a shot, support the open source community! I mean who really wants to pay ridiculous prices for software when they can get just as good if not better software for free? I haven’t tried Ubuntu with Beryl but damn it looks cool. On my new computer I’m going to have to try this! GO OPEN SOURCE!!!
